Oma kuvaus
Valmistuin kuvataiteilijaksi Tampereelta 2010 ja olen toiminut aktiivisesti taiteen sekä ihmisen hyvinvoinnin kentällä. Asun ja työskentelen Pikkalassa kallioiden ja meren äärellä. Vaikeahoitoinen epilepsia haastaa eloa, mutta tuo pelotonta otetta ja perspektiiviä siihen, mikä on tärkeää ja totta. Vaikutan taidekentällä Suomen Pohjoismaisen Taideliiton hallituksessa, Helsingin Taiteilijanseuran hallituksessa sekä perustajajäsenenä 3/11 ja Rihmastoryhmä kollektiivissa. Kuulun myös Yö ry:hyn ja Meri-Lapin taideyhteisöön, Meän Periferiaan yhtenä harvoista performanssitaiteilijoista sekä perustin HEARTCORE Ry taidekollektiivin, joka sukeltaa pintaa syvemmälle. Ydintyöni lisäksi kirjoitan sekä opiskelen parantajan tietä. Olen oikeudenmukaisuuden ja totuuden väkevä puolustaja. Teokseni herättelevät metakognitiivisella tasolla katsomaan itseen. Tuolloin koen onnistuvan työssäni. Teoksissani kaivan totuutta esiin, kaikkien kertyneiden kerrosten alta, yhteiskunnallisten ja sosiaalisten. Käytän pääasiallisesti kierrätys-ja löytömateriaaleja, sillä niitä on kaikkialla ja niiden mahdollisuudet eivät ole rajoittuneet. Koen itseni tutkijanlaiseksi ja tahallisen tahattomasti sotkeudun eri tieteenalojen piiriin sekä shamanistinen, luonnonyhteydessä elävä maailmankatsomukseni sekoittaa kaikki luontevasti yhteen. Olen monialataiteilija, mutta pääasiallisesti käytän omaa kehoani ja toteutan erityisesti osallistavia performansseja. Monet performanssit jättävät jälkensä usein installaatiomuodossa galleriaan. Ympäristöteoksiani löytyy myös luonnosta ympäri Suomea koordinaateilla. Toimin myös taideohjaajana.
MEAS (Mari Sydänmaanlakka, b. 1984) graduated as a visual artist from Tampere in 2010 and has been active in the fields of art and salutogenic well-being. She lives and works in Pikkala, Finland by the cliffs, forests and bodies of water. Her works have been on display mainly in motherland and other Europe. Her intractable epilepsy brings a fearless grip and perspective on what is real and important. She is a board member of Helsinki Artists' Association and a founding member of 3/11 Art Collective Ry, HEARTCORE ry and Rihmastoryhmä art collectives. She is also a member of MUU Ry and Yö Ry and the Meri-Lapland art community, Meän Periferia Ry, as one of the few performance artists. In addition to her core work, she writes and studies the path of a healer using water and herbal remedies in her energy enchancing practises. MEAS is a defender of justice and truth, and her works awaken us to look at the metacognitive level of one´s existence. Big part of MEAS´s art is the deep diving discussions with the wiewers after experiencing her service.
MEAS reels up the truth, from under all the accumulated layers, from social to spiritual. She uses recycled and found materials- found everywhere and ever alchemised. For over 8 years she has been using especially VHS-tape and next year a book "Truth Saga" will be published that collects all the works with VHS-tape into a one piece. As an artist, she finds a role of a researcher and unintentionally gets entangled in different scientific disciplines and even collaborates with physicists. Her shamanistic worldview, living in strong connection with nature, collaborating with it´s spirits and organically mixing everything mentioned above together. MEAS is a multidisciplinary artist, but mainly uses her body as main medium and creates participatory performances, physically and mentally. As MEAS performs, she describes being in a trance like state where the ego dissolves into aether. Many performances often leave a physical mark in the form of an installation. Her environmental works can also be found in nature all over Finland with coordinates. Next MEAS is seen Riga, Latvia, Meän Kulma and Kemi Art Museum in Lapland.
